We introduce a trainer who has spent stints Stateside but is based in Britain, selling art from her yard in ‘HQ’.

She’s busy enough training 15 horses on the Hamilton Road in Newmarket, but helping art find new homes is more than a side hustle for Ilka Gansera-Lévêque.

“I think the most inspiring people are self-made,” she states. “Relaxing has always felt like a waste of time to me.”

The daughter of a German air force pilot, Gansera-Lévêque spent a year with horse whisperer Monty Roberts, qualified as a vet, and met her French husband, a “supreme horseman”, in Dubai.

She established a commercial art gallery, housed in various corners of her yard and open by appointment seven days a week, three years back, amassing work from artists of countless countries and continents. read more
